Let’s pretend you aren’t down on Mulberry Mountain at Harvest Festival. You really should be, because there is lots to do.

But, again, we’re pretending now. So, what could you possibly do? How about… see some music?!?

And one of your best bets might be tonight at George’s Majestic Lounge.

Memphis-based rockers — and Fayetteville favorites — Lucero will perform in Fayetteville tonight (Oct. 14), roughly a month after a show scheduled here was postponed. Originally to appear at the Arkansas Music Pavilion on Sept. 16. Instead, they’ll perform at 10 p.m. today at George’s. Benjamin Del Shreve opens the show. Tickets are $20 and are available at the venue or through its website.

Elsewhere tonight, jazz diva Rene Marie will perform at 8 p.m. at the Walton Arts Center. We’ll have more about her in a bit.

Saturday (Oct. 15) features more music at Harvest Fest, of course, but also a show from Kentucky Knife Fight — that sounds fun — at Smoke & Barrel Tavern. Blew Reed is at the Rowdy Beaver in Fayetteville that evening, too.

Sunday, we’ll be coming back from Harvest Fest, so stick around with us through the weekend for all our updates and photos.

School is back in session, which means Fayetteville feels a little bit busier. The streets are more congested, Dickson Street is a little more crowded and there is a bit of energy around town.

There’s also lots of music.

You could start your weekend with Heypenny. Although the group calls Nashville, Tenn., home, Heypenny has ties to this area, specifically through former Fayetteville resident and current Heypenny member Ben Elkins. Heypenny has released several albums, including the Feb. 21 offering “A Jillion Kicks.” The indie/electronica/progressive rockers stop in Fayetteville tonight (Aug. 26) for a show at Rogue Pizza Co. The show begins at 8 p.m. Admission is $5.

There’s also the Fayetteville Roots Festival. It takes place through Sunday, and it will take place in many venues. There’s too much to say in this post, but check back during your lunch break, would ya? They’ll be more here.

Other opportunities include Andy Frasco at George’s Majestic Lounge on Saturday (Aug. 27), Epiphany at Smoke & Barrel Tavern on Saturday and plenty more.

See you at a show or two?

Seems like we did this last week: Snow during the middle of the week, major cabin fever a little bit later in the week, and then something to look forward to on the weekend.

Which starts now. It’s Friday, y’all, and the sun will be shining.

Kentucky electro-rockers The Pass will arrive in Fayetteville for a show tonight (Feb. 11) at Smoke & Barrel Tavern. The quartet released the album “Burst,” last year. Admission to the 10 p.m. show is $3.

Also performing tonight is Kory Montgomery, a blues prodigy and Rogers native. He’ll play at The Bayou of Rogers. He’ll start about 9:30 p.m.

Mountain Sprout is at George’s Majestic Lounge on Saturday (Feb. 12). You’ll like them if you like funny songs, whiskey and nontraditional bluegrass. Dirtfoot and Speakeasy will also perform that evening.

Whiskey King Coalition is at Rogue Pizza Co. on Saturday as well. The venue describes them as “hippie style rock from Colorado.” Carolina Story opens the 9 p.m. show. There’s a $7 cover.

There’s plenty where that came from. What are you excited to catch this weekend?

Um… did you realize that 2010 is almost over? I mean, really? It seems like it just got here.

I’m going to have a hard time labeling documents with 2011, I think.

Anyway, enough of the nostalgia…

There is music happening this weekend. There are dozens of options on the live music front tonight (Dec. 31) during New Year’s Eve celebrations, ranging from Big Smith and Mountain Sprout tonight at George’s to Red Ambition at Eddie Haskell’s in Rogers.

We’ve actually compiled a list of many of the parties in the area, but you’ll have to visit What’s Up! to read about them all [Note: subscriber content].

But New Year’s parties aren’t the only thing happening this weekend, of course.

On New Year’s Day, after you’ve watched all the football you can handle, you can catch Austin, Texas’ The Sour Notes at Smoke & Barrel. They’re performing with Niall and Messy Sparkles. Admission to that 9 p.m. show is $5.

Otherwise, check the calendar to the right.

Also, happy New Year’s. We’ll see you at a show soon.

So, let’s say you had a great Thanksgiving with the family yesterday (and we all hope you did). But let’s say that your crazy aunt (or uncle, or grandma, or kid sister, or whomever) just keeps talking, and you’ve just about had all the family you can handle for a bit. Or, maybe you need to leave before mom feeds you some more turkey leftovers.

Well, how about finding some live music to watch? It’ll get you out of the house for a bit, and it’s good for your soul, too. So, where to go?

You can find Tyrannosaurus Chicken tonight (Nov. 26) at Smoke & Barrel Tavern. They’ll be playing some bluesy boogies, because that’s what they do.

Speaking of blues music, on Saturday (Nov. 27) you can catch the annual Blues in the Natural State concert at George’s Majestic Lounge. More on that later (hint, hint).

Candy Lee and the Sweets are at Greenhouse Grille on Sunday (Nov. 28) for brunch.

If none of those shows look like your thing, find your way to the calendar on the right, where we’ve got a list of upcoming gigs.

What do you plan to see?
