In this space, every Friday morning, I often encourage you to get outside.
And with the Memorial Day holiday and an extended weekend, don’t make any excuses. In our print entertainment publication, What’s Up!, we listed several destinations you can reach by bike, boat or horse. Take a look at the roundup here [Note: Subscriber content]. You officially have no excuses.
Perhaps you can follow up a little outdoor time with a little live music watching?
Memphis, Tenn., country soul rockers Lucero will close out a two-night run in Fayetteville with a performance tonight (May 23) at Georgeâs Majestic Lounge. The group, fronted by Arkansas native Ben Nichols, has released several albums, including the well-received 2012 offering âWomen & Work.â Joining Lucero for tonightâs show will be the band Mulehead. Tickets for the 9 p.m. show are $20 and available via georgesmajesticlounge.com.
Or, maybe you can combine some lakeside seating with live music. JJ’s Grill on Beaver Lake in the Prairie Creek area is again open for the season. There’s live music there all weekend, including Russ Hutchison on Monday (May 26).
Another option is seeing Nate Hancock and the Declaration, the frontman of which is a Northwest Arkansas native. His band is back in the area for a series of shows, including at Chelsea’s Corner Cafe in Eureka Springs tonight and the Rowdy Beaver in that town on Saturday (May 24).
What’s on your live music agenda?
