Within a few hours of publishing a story about the Eureka Springs Bluegrass Festival this morning [Note: Subscriber content], we learned the schedule has changed.
Jesse McReynolds, who was scheduled to headline the festivities with a set at The Auditorium on Aug. 17, will no longer be able to attend. A press release sent by the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission cited McReynolds’ “serious health problems” but did not elaborate. At any rate, let’s hope McReynolds gets well soon.
Replacing him will be Bobby Osborne, who earned fame playing alongside his brother in The Osborne Brothers. He’ll perform with his current band, Rocky Top X-Press, during the Saturday night show.
Other acts coming to the festival include The Clark Family Trio, Dragon Masters and more.
The festival starts at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 with a free concert and watermelon social in Basin Park and free music continues there throughout the weekend.
