Iris Dement sings “Go on Ahead and Go Home,” from her new album “Sing the Delta.” She’ll be singing to Northwest Arkansas crowds when she performs at the upcoming Fayetteville Roots Festival.

During a show Tuesday night (Jan. 22) at George’s Majestic Lounge, members of 3 Penny Acre, who help organize the annual Fayetteville Roots Festival, announced the first round of artists.

It’s just a tease, but it’s a good one.

Two of the perhaps dozens of artists scheduled for the festival, which will take place in August, were announced. On this year’s roster will be the Del McCoury Band and Iris Dement.

Del McCoury is among bluegrass music’s most iconic names. Dement, an native Arkansan, is a singer-songwriter of much critical acclaim.

More names are expected to be released sometime this spring.
