As we’ve been telling you over the past couple weeks, the Arkansas Music Pavilion is moving to the Washington County Fairgrounds site and has been booking talent for the 2012 season.
We can also now tell you the venue is getting bigger. I took a site tour with general manager Brian Crowne last week. On that tour, we explored the sight lines of the facility and the locations for the revamped VIP lounge, lawn areas and more.
Importantly, the venue is now much larger. Under the most common configuration, the venue could host about 6,000 fans. With a standalone stage, there could be room for 10,000. Contrast that to the former location’s capacity of about 3,500 and you see how big a difference that is.
Crowne says it allows him to book bigger-name acts, and in the past week, several new shows have been announced (with more expected soon).
Here’s what the schedule looks like so far:
April 19 â Cake
April 21 â Big Gigantic
May 8 â Five Finger Death Punch
May 10 â Wilco
June 10 â Ted Nugent
We took a longer look at the new AMP site in Friday’s What’s Up! section, the entertainment guide published weekly in the five Northwest Arkansas Media group newspapers. Read more about the AMP in that story [Note: Subscriber content].
Tickets are currently available for all AMP shows with the exception of the Gavin DeGraw/Colbie Caillat show, which goes on sale Friday (March 30). All tickets are available through the Walton Arts Center box office.
