If you were hoping to see Mark O’Connor perform during the upcoming Festival on the Border event in Fort Smith, this post will probably come as a disappointment.

The show, which was to combine the violinist’s talent with that of the Fort Smith Symphony, has been canceled.

According to a festival press release, “several complications” are responsible for the cancelation, although those complications are not specifically named.

Event officials say that ticket holders have already been contact and refunds will be issued.

In that press release, event officials also said that they would like to bring back O’Connor and perform the music from the movie “True Grit” in the future, but no date has been set.

Other events at the festival, such as a Dierks Bentley show on Sept. 9 and a concert by The Fray on Sept. 10, will continue as planned.

We’ll have more on the festival, including an interview with Girl Talk, early next week.
