Concert Wrap: Primus (in photos), May 27 @ The AMP

May 28th, 2011 at 12:13 pm

I’m not sure I would know how to properly review Primus, so I’m not even going to try. The trio was in Fayetteville on Friday (May 27) for a show at the Arkansas Music Pavilion on a pleasant evening.

Here’s what you need to know: They were sufficiently weird, as anyone who knows the band should expect. Les Claypool is amazing on bass guitar. Simply amazing. And they have a devoted fan base who showed up in force last night for what we were told was the group’s first-ever appearance in Arkansas.

There were problems, sure. The vocals were nearly unrecognizable, although, muffled and effects-laden vocals are part of the deal with Primus, even on the band’s studio albums. And the general admission crowd made it a little difficult to maneuver around the venue, which was fairly well packed.

However… It appeared there were few who weren’t having a raucous time.
