Now moving into its 16th year, The Northwest Arkansas Music Awards are announcing an expansion and an affiliated music conference.

The popular awards ceremony will still take place, and this year, it’s going to be offered on April 28, a Thursday, at George’s Majestic Lounge. But it’s going beyond a one-night event, and the weekend of events has a name: Rock-It Music Week.

What’s new are the pre- and post-show showcases, which take place on dates before and after the awards ceremony at venues such as Greenhouse Grille and Smoke & Barrel Tavern.

Also new are the workshops that will be offered at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in downtown Fayetteville on April 30. These sessions will offer tips on recording, publicity and contacts with local booking agents. A more detailed schedule can be found on the conference website.

Tickets for the conference are currently being sold. They are $20 now, but will rise to $25 after April 20.
