This weekend, you’ll have the chance to party like you’re 84.
Which means you’ll have some live music, some drinks and a three-day event, right?
Well, that’s the case at George’s Majestic Lounge, which is celebrating it 84th anniversary this weekend. The events get underway with a happy hour performance at 6 p.m. today (April 1) by Big Smith. They’ll also perform the late set this evening and be joined by Great American Taxi, a side project of Leftover Salmon frontman Vince Herman.
Saturday (April 2), the celebration will be led by 7 Walkers, a band featuring Bill Kreutzmann, who spent 30 years with the Grateful Dead and has been drumming for decades. 7 Walkers also features Papa Mali and George Porter, Jr. Robert Hunter, who wrote many of the lyrics of The Dead, assisted 7 Walkers in the same role.
The weekend concludes with George’s weekly Sunday night celebration with cheap beer mugs and free music. Goose has the stage for this Sunday (April 3).
Admission to the happy hour show is $5, admission to the Friday-night show is $10 and tickets for the Saturday-night show with 7 Walkers is $20. Tickets are available through the club or through its website.
Happy birthday, you old man. Keep rockin’, will you please?
