More than two years after NASO (the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra) canceled a concert because of fundraising problems, the organization has life again.
After a series of staff departures, volunteer fundraising, the hiring of a new musical director and musicians and a name change, the organization returns as SoNA, the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas.
It was recently announced the group, under the direction of Paul Haas, will perform its first concert in the coming months.
The organization has set March 17 for the opening date with a program that will contain works by Brahms, Joshua Penman and Mendelssohn.
Tickets are onsale now and range from $15 to $35. Those tickets are available by calling 443-5600 or through the Walton Arts Center’s online box office.
