Just announced: The Harvest Festival returns
June 2nd, 2010 at 9:17 am
Sam Bush plays a version of Dylan’s “Girl From The North Country.” We think (and hope) Bush is coming to Arkansas for the Mulberry Mountain Harvest Music Festival in October.
We know that everyone’s attention has been fixed on Wakarusa, and why not? There’s plenty happening, and it starts tomorrow.
But, how about some other local festival news? Any, more importantly, how about some GOOD local festival news?
We’ve heard rumors throughout the spring and summer about the Mulberry Mountain Harvest Music Festival, which takes place at Mulberry Mountain, the same site as Wakarusa. Those rumors told us the festival was happening this year. Or that it wasn’t happening this year but would resume in the future. Or that it was over.
Now, we’ve got confirmation: It’s happening. In 2010.
Via Facebook, Mulberry Mountain officials announced they will begin selling Harvest Festival tickets for $99 during Wakarusa. It would appear the early ticket special only applies to those who attend Wakarusa.
Details are sparse, and the festival’s website does not indicate who is coming, or when. However, Pollstar.com indicates several bands coming to the festival: Pert’ Near Sandstone, The Travelin’ McCourys, Head for the Hills, The Infamous Stringdusters, Emmitt Nershi Band and Sam Bush.
Also, Pollstar gives us an idea of some dates: Oct. 14-16, which is much later in the year than last year’s festival, which was in early August.
We’ll let you know more as information is available. However, know that the Harvest Festival is back.
When I called for the annual festival list, they told me definitely mid-October. They moved the festival so that it wouldn’t be so soon after Wakarusa. It will take the place of the arts and crafts festival they usually hold in the fall, which won’t be held this year. The former Old Applegate Place Arts and Crafts Fair will become a fine arts festival with different dates in 2011. At least, that was the plan last month…
