Celebrating the local music scene: The NAMAs

April 29th, 2010 at 12:40 pm

Here’s a promise: You will not see more local bands — representing more genres — all under one roof than tonight.

Tonight (April 29) is the annual Northwest Arkansas Music Awards celebration, better known as the NAMAs.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Dickson Theater, nominated musicians and their guests will gather before the ceremony opens up to the public at 8 p.m.

There, musicians dozens of categories will be honored with awards that were nominated by local industry personnel and then voted on by music fans.

The event is sponsored by the Fayetteville Free Weekly and hosted by Kyle Kellams and Robert Cochran.

Four bands — Wade Ogle and Black Elk, LaFuSo, Nate Hancock and The Declaration and Randall Shreve — are scheduled to play during the evening.

Admission is $10, and money raised during the event goes to charity.

We’ll see you there.

Totally agree with that first claim – you will not be able to see more genres of musicians under one roof than at the NAMA ceremony.

I will be there interviewing bands on the red carpet for CAT television, the Free Weekly and Honest Tunes Radio.
