It’s Hammer Time. Or, maybe it’s better to say it will be Hammer Time in June.

Yes, that’s right. As we’ve been hinting at for the past several weeks, the Arkansas Music Pavilion has been slowly gathering the artists that will be announced for the 2010 season at the outdoor venue located at the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville.

Included on the initial roster — and properly announced today (Feb. 10) at a press conference — were four artists, and already, they span several genres with promises from AMP officials that diversity will be key to the season.

Starting things off will be Levon Helm on April 22. He will be followed by Blue Oyster Cult and the Georgia Satellites on May 22, Gary Allan on May 27 and MC Hammer will on June 12.

Find details about the artists in our story about the season, which will be printed Friday (Feb. 12) in the What’s Up! section, found in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Northwest Edition and the Northwest Arkansas Newspapers publications.

Tickets, which vary in price from artist to artist, go on sale Monday (Feb. 15).

Also, AMP officials are insistent that more artists — as many as 10 more — are on the way.

We’ll provide updates as soon as any are available.

UPDATE: Not two minutes after we posted this to the Web, sure enough, we get confirmation that another artist is coming to the AMP. Officials there tell us that the Indigo Girls will perform at the venue on May 26, a Wednesday.
