moe. on the move

July 21st, 2008 at 1:59 pm

The July 26 concert featuring moe. and the Del McCoury Band to take place at the Arkansas Music Pavilion will be moved to another venue.

The concert will now take place at George’s Majestic Lounge, 519 W. Dickson St. The concert is expected to begin at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m.

Tickets purchased for the show at the AMP will be honored at George’s, said Brian Crowne, who is a co-owner of both the Dickson Street venue and the AMP.

Low ticket sales are the reason for the venue change, Crowne said. In such a circumstance, he said he would rather have the bands in front of a full crowd at George’s (capacity around 700) than in front of a small crowd at a large outdoor venue such as the AMP (which seats more than 2,000 and has room for many more in the general admission areas).

All this follows on the heels of a weather-related washout of the Pat Benatar concert scheduled for July 12 at the AMP. The show has yet to be rescheduled, but officials are still working on the situation, Crowne said earlier today (July 21).

Tickets remain on sale for the show and are $25.

We’ll provide updates as more information becomes available.

It should indeed be great. I chatted with moe.’s Al Schnier yesterday, he’s really pumped about the prospect of playing with Del McCoury. Expect them to join forces for a song or two.

Look here Friday for my interview with moe.
