When Arkansas Music Pavilion officials said they had a special announcement for Friday, this is clearly what they meant.
The Black Crowes, who released the critically well-received album “Warpaint” on March 3, will perform Aug. 14 at the AMP, according to the band’s Web site.
The band has sold more than 20 million albums during its nearly 20-year career and has toured with such musical luminaries as The Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Jimmy Page, who teamed up with the Crowes for a tour and live CD in 2000.
The Black Crowes, led by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, will have a hired gun for their tour. The band added Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars to its roster late last year.
According to the Crowes’ Web site, tickets go on sale May 2. Internet pre-sale tickets will be available on April 24.
