Springing into live music

Live music will be returning to the patio at Jose’s Southwest Grille in Springdale, pictured above, on April 1. Other venues with patios will follow suit in the coming weeks. File photo.

Today (March 20), being the first day of a spring and one of those days where it’s too nice to be indoors, sounds like as good a time as any to talk about outdoor live music.

Many local venues will soon be opening their patios for open-air music. Here are the ones we know of so far:

Jose’s Southwest Grille, Springdale — Opens April 1 with The Undecided. Weekend dates will follow, as will an open mic night, which will take place every Monday beginning April 7.

Herman’s Ribhouse, Fayetteville — Opens in early May, performers to be announced

Powerhouse Seafood and Grill, Fayetteville — Party on the Patio, as it is called, begins May 1 with Molten Lava and continues every Thursday.

Noodles Italian Kitchen, Fayetteville — Opens April 3. Singer-songwriters Jeff Fox and Mo Brothers will alternate on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.

The Arkansas Music Pavilion will host Jason Isbell on July 10, and it’s possible an earlier concert will be announced.

One that won’t be opening is Neumeier’s Rib Room and Beer Garden in Fort Smith. A renovation/construction project there won’t be completed in time for 2008, but live music will return in 2009, owner Bill Neumeier said.

This is an incomplete list, for certain, but it looks like a good start. Here’s to hoping for live music and nice weather every day.
